Abstract: An electrorheological (ER) transmission is made to simulate a speed governor or a clutch. The effects of transmilling boundary on transmissibility of the ER transmission are investigated through changing the input revolutions, applied electric field strength, boundary conditions and size of the ER transmission. The results show that transmissibility of the ER transmission can be enhanced by installing an optimum number of insulted slips on the transmitting boundaries. The optimum number of the slips depends on the diameter of transmission sleeve.
