Abstract: In this paper, for involute gear, the distributions of relative radius of curvature and entraining velosity along the theoretical path of action are obtained. The influence of these distributions on the minimum oil film thickness and characteristics of minimum oil film thickness along the path of action are found out. Then, a useful equation is derived by which the maximum value of the minimum oil film thickness can be got. Accoding these results, some advanced design is suggested.
