Abstract: The measurement of tooth-profile deviation of a plane-generated hourglass worm is achieved by coordinate measurement. The method to improve the manufacturing accuracy of worms by diagnosing the adjusting error of machine tools during worm machining from the results of tooth-profile deviation measurement and correcting the adjusting parameters of machine tools from diagnosis results is proposed. The experiments of machining and measurement indicate that this method is quite effective.
