Method Research of Calculation of Air-pumping Noise of Single Transverse Groove of Tire

Abstract: Finite element model of single transverse groove of 205/50R16 tire is developed. The volume change of single groove is acquired from the transient processes by using Abaqus/Explicit solver, and is imported into Fluent. The flow field of air in a single groove is simulated to predict the air-pumping noise by means of Lighthill’s theory. The relationship of flow field and the noise is verifcated based on vortex-sound theory. It is shown that the first sound pressure peak is concentrated at 0.8~2.0 kHz, the trend of simulation date and experimental result have consistency; besides the change of sound pressure happens at transition time of air-pumping. The noise peak occurred on the time period of significant change of vorticity, and the vorticity could reflect the change of flow field noise.
