Design and Characteristic Analysis of Miniaturized Labyrinth Hydraulic Reservoir

Abstract: Hydraulic reservoir miniaturization is demanding and effective for mobile hydraulic equipment lightweight. To improve miniaturized hydraulic reservoir purification and stabilization ability, a miniaturized labyrinth hydraulic reservoir is proposed. Euler-Euler and Euler-Lagrange multiphase models, etc. are used to evaluate its basic properties. Firstly, the reservoir structure and its function area design are introduced. Next, numerical simulation is utilized to analyze the reservoir crucial structure parameters,i.e. reservoir return pipe depth and stabilization area upper wall slant angle, to get better purification effect. Finally, the properties comparison of the labyrinth reservoir and traditional single-baffle hydraulic reservoir is obtained combining gas-oil, solid-oil two phases and oil single phase flow by simulation results. The labyrinth reservoir is highly effective on the purification of particles and air compared to traditional single-baffle hydraulic reservoir in the same flow rate, volume and without filter equipment working conditions. The purification efficiency on 250 μm diameter metal particles and 500 μm diameter air bubbles reach 89% and 68% respectively by the labyrinth reservoir. Besides, the reservoir has significantly improved oil steady performance but there is a short free surface fluctuation in the reservoir when the hydraulic system starts to work. The modeling and properties analysis of miniaturized labyrinth hydraulic reservoir provide a theory guide on the design and properties improvement of miniaturized hydraulic reservoir.
