Abstract: The most direct and effective way to reduce the energy consumption of hydraulic system is to adopt closed pump control technology. By changing the speed or displacement of the pump, the output flow and pressure of the pump match the load. But for asymmetric hydraulic cylinders whose application area is more than 80%, there is the problem of inconsistency between the flow rate of two orifices of the hydraulic pump and that of two chambers of the hydraulic cylinder, which leads to the need to add complex oil-filling circuits. When the load or the direction of the running speed changes, the oil-compensation circuits need to be switched quickly and accurately. Otherwise, it is easy to lead to suction and large pressure shock. The stability of the system is worse when the pressure of the two chambers is close to each other. In order to solve these problems of pump control system, a flow self-balancing hydraulic pump with three distributing windows is designed, which can balance the flow of cylinder. The structure realizes that the flow of hydraulic pump is consistent with that of hydraulic cylinder all the time, and the stable driving of hydraulic cylinder can be realized without adding complex oil supply circuit outside. In order to verify the feasibility of the new design scheme, the working characteristics of the flow self-balancing hydraulic pump are analyzed in principle, and the test prototype is designed and manufactured. On this basis, the operation characteristics of asymmetric cylinders driven by manufactured hydraulic pumps are studied. The results show that the new designed flow self-balancing hydraulic pump can drive the asymmetrical hydraulic cylinder smoothly without adding complicated large flow oil supply circuit; when the control chamber changes, the ratio of velocity to rotational speed of the hydraulic cylinder changes very little.
