Fatigue Life Analysis of Rear Bushing of Automobile Control Arm on Bench Test

Abstract: It is important to predict rubber component’s life under multiaxial load condition, so the life of a control arm under bench test is predicted to study some key-problems to predict life of rubber component under multiaxial load condition. Bench test of lives of rubber bushings are done and their lives are derived. Fatigue model is chose and its parameters are determined through the fatigue test on rubber specimen. The rubber bushing’s response under bench test is derived with finite element simulation and linear superposition. The fatigue life of rubber bushing is predicted and the influence of damage parameter, load phase, and response superposition method is analyzed. The results show that the test and the prediction method can reliable predict the fatigue life of rubber bushing. The influences on rubber bushing’s fatigue life of choice of damage parameters, linear superposition other than load phase were not significant under the bench test condition.
