Abstract: The taylor vortex flow in the plain and slit 18 models is studied by experimental measurement, the preliminary effect of slit wall on the flow field in annular space is obtained. The flow field in the slit 18 model is also studied by numerical simulation. The reliability of numerical simulation is verified by comparing the experimental and numerical simulation results. The flow field in plain, slit 6, slit 12 and slit 18 model is studied by numerical simulation. The following conclusion is obtained by comparing the velocity and vorticity distribution in different models. The small number of slits in the outer cylinder changed the axial size of the Taylor vortex. As the increasing of the slit number, the effect of slit wall became more obvious, the maximize axial and radial velocity also increases as the increasing of slit number. The vortex flow is found in the slit wall by comparing the flow field in different axial positions, and the flow in the slit wall space has the tendency of moving in and out the annular space.
