Abstract: The Uniform Design method is used to investigate the effects of processing parameters on the porosity and micro-hardness of NiCr-Cr3C2 coating. The comprehension effects of the processing parameters, spray voltage, spray current, argon gas flow rate and spray distance, are analyzed using stepwise regression method. The results show that the third-order and the second-order polynomial regressed equations are the most appropriate equations to identify the influences of the processing parameters mentioned above on the porosity and micro-hardness. As a result of the regressed polynomial which is analyzed in mathematic ways, the most suitable processing parameters by means of uniform design experiment are acquired and the spray voltage, spray current, argon flow rate and spray distance are 185 V, 375 A, 110 L/min and 107 mm respectively. The porosity and micro-hardness of coating prepared at the most suitable processing parameters are 1.07 % and 1 097 HV0.3 respectively. The verification experiment shows that the equations acquired are proper to identify the relationship between the spray parameters investigated(spray voltage, spray current, argon gas flow rate and spray distance) and the porosity and micro-hardness of NiCr-Cr3C2 coating.
