Abstract: To inspect the quality of batch drilling quickly, a new approach is introduced based on the analysis of the vibration sensors’ signals. From the whole drilling process, three stages closely related to the drilling quality is extracted based on the contact conditions between drilling blades and workpiece, these stages are called the stage of guiding drilling, the stage of drilling and the stage of ending drilling. The instantaneous amplitude and instantaneous frequency of the vibration sensors’ signals are solved by using the orthogonal envelope method, and the instantaneous mutation points of the mentioned three stages can be located, then the signals of the mentioned three stages are extracted from the vibration sensors’ signals. Utilizing the principal component analysis to analyze the statistical attribute of three stage signals, the batch drilling quality can be classified. The results show that the instantaneous points can be extracted under the error of three Percent, and the batch drilling quality can be evaluated accurately
