Abstract: A new automatic design parameterization method of the turbine cascade is proposed based on the energy optimization method for 2D blade profile. Combined with the automatic design parameterization method, the parallel adaptive range differential evolution algorithm and Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver technique, an automatic aerodynamic optimization method is developed. An aft-loaded cascade is optimized for the maximization of the total pressure coefficient. The total pressure coefficient of the optimum design has 0.7% higher than that of the reference cascade. The optimal design blade shows a better aerodynamic performance than that of the reference design. The excellent optimization performance and application prospect of the presented methodology are also indicated.
