Numerical Simulation of Flow in Open-type Mixed Flow Pump and Options of the Discharge Structures

Abstract: To make the base of structural design of the new open-type mixed flow pump, interior flow and characteristic of the open-type pump are analyzed from small flow to maximum flow. And the discharge structure schemes that are applicable to special fluid drive system are presented. The numerical methods of flow simulation and performance prediction of pump are introduced. Reliability of numerical simulation is validated by comparing the numerical results with the experimental results. Based on the original model analysis, interior flow characteristics and hydrodynamic performance of open-type mixed flow pump with various discharge structures are predicted, the results of different structures are compared and the adaptability of different discharge structures to special structure and power requirement are given.
