Abstract: For researching the cutting process of axial turn-milling of equidistant profile, in view of the complexity of its motion process, and with vector as the research object, a mathematical model describing its movement process is founded through vector analysis, and the basic vector equation is given. The movement track of machining is simulated through the mathematical model. The influence of main cutting parameters on the movement track is analyzed. For verifying the correctness of the movement vector model, the experiment of axial turn-milling of equidistant profile is carried out, and the machining sample of equidistant profile containing inner and outer contours is obtained. The result shows that machining inner and outer contours of equidistant profile can be realized completely by adopting the axial turn-milling. Theoretically, provided that the rotating speed ratio between milling cutter and work piece is augmented, adequately small surface roughness of work piece can be obtained, and smooth machined surface can be obtained more easily by using up-milling.
