Abstract: Effective control of temperature is key technique to realize aluminium isothermal extrusion. On base of thermal conduction theory, equations to calculate the needed thermal energy and heating power for container heating from the room temperature to the desired value in aluminium extrusion and equations to calculate the air-cooling quantity are gained. Based on those equations, the heating and cooling system, which are used to control temperature of the container in thermal extrusion is designed. At the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of the container induction heating are introduced. The temperature and stress distribution in the container are simu-lated by FEM. Result reveals that temperature of the container is uniform when it is heated and the container heating must be in according with the process route because thermal stress var-ies abruptly in the big temperature gradient. Then the technique route to realize the temperature of the container is put forward. Equations and the simulation result are used in the design of 100 MN oil-driven double action aluminium press and the product practice shows equations is correct and simulation re-sult is reliable.
