RESEARCH ON NEW RAPID MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE OF RAW MOULDS FOR LARGE-SIZED SHEET METAL FORMING

Abstract

Abstract: A simple and reliable technique is proposed for rapid blank manufacturing of large moulds for sheet metal forming. Study is carried on the modularization of the surface structure of the mould. Design problems associated with forming of the surface module are discussed. Important design theories and methods are proposed with applications in the design and manufacturing process of moulds for new product development of automobiles. A reduction up to 50% in R&D time may be obtained, indicating a great potential of the technique in producing big social and economic benefits.
