Abstract: A two-fluid numerical model for predicting two-phase fluid flow and heat transfer behavior in the shell-side of large power plant condensers is developed and applied to a 200 MW power plant condenser. With this method, the conservation equations for both vapor-phase and liquid-phase are established based on the distributed resistance method. The predicted results show that there is no obvious effect of liquid phase on the overall performance of the power plant condenser due to the existence of drainage baffles. The predicted results agree well with the experimental data, and show a little improvement over the results obtained using the single-phase model.
