RECONSTRUCTION OF THE 3D SURFACE FOR PRECISION MACHINING OF MISSILE RADOME

Abstract: It’s very important for missile radome to be precisely machined, especially for the inner surface of it. The performance of the radome and even the missile will be greatly affected by its making quality. How to realize the reconstruction of the radome surface from a large numbers of discrete data of it, is the key for the precise machining. The reconstruction of 3D surface for the radome, base on the method of bicubic B-spline surface, is presented, and from which the computer-aided drawing can be carried out. Furthermore, equation of offset surface from the reconstruction would make easy planning for cutting tool path in NC machining of the radome.
