Abstract: The mathematical models that describe the mold filling process of molten metal are presented. Meanwhile, the numerical solution algorithm of mold filling is briefly introduced, and some improvements are also taken in details. The technique is applied to the simulation of mold filling of impeller casting during suction pouring, and the results calculated are compared with the experiments.
