RESEARCH ON ALGORITHM OF AUTOMATIC GENERATION OF INTERFERENCE-FREE CUTTER LOCATION PATH FOR NC MACHINING OF FREEFORM SURFACES WITH FLAT-END CUTTERS

Abstract

Abstract: A new algorithm of automatic generation of interference-free cutter location path for NC machining of free-form surfaces with flat-end cutters is proposed. The freeform surfaces are divided into convex regions and non-convex regions. For convex regions, fast-speed method is used. For non-convex regions, the detecting and the eliminating of interference are needed. The methods to solve the problem of interference during 3-axis and 5-axis machining of freeform surfaces are discussed.
