STUDY ON CAR BODY STYLING WITH AERODYNAMIC OPTIMIZATION

Abstract: Based on a new theoretical model of aerodynamics, a method for determining sets of ideal basic shapes suitable to car bodies and for converting from the shapes to car body styles, is studied. The method is explained through real example for obtaining such a basic shape in a computer-aided aerodynamics (CAA) way, and is verified by the wind tunnel rest results of a scaled model of that shape and by the computer-aided styling (CAS) results. Preliminary analyses of main factors that influence formation of the shapes are carried out.
