INTERFERENCE-FREE TOOL PATH PLANNING IN MACHINING OF SCULPTURED SURFACES WITH A FLAT-END CUTTER

Abstract: The interference by the flat-end cutter in 5-axis machining of sculptured surfaces is discussed. A practiable method of check and avoidance is presented for the overcutting on tool end and touch interference on the tool body. The interference-free tool path planning is given.
