Abstract: To improve the adaptive design capability which is short of in current various hob CAD systems, a new conception of locus envelope for hob profile design is proposed, and a consistant representation of gear profile in discrete set of points is given out. Feature research and optimization technique have been utilized to establish the adaptive design principle for hob profile. The adaptive hob CAD system development and application is simply introduced.
