Abstract: The deformation characteristics of ring rolling are analysed. The mechanical. Models for biting in, plastic penetration and bending in ring rolling are proposed, furthermore the criteria for biting in, plastic penetration and rigidity in ring rolling are established. The ring rolling principle is explained systematically based on them. Technology design method for ring rolling is developed in basis of the ring rolling principle, and calculating formulae for preform, groove and feeding parameters are derived. The criteria for biting in and plastic penetration are verified according to ring rolling experimental results.
