TWO PRACTICAL WAVELET TECHNIQUES OF RECOGNIZING FAULT CHARACTERISTICS FROM TRANSIENT SIGNALS

Abstract: The application of wavelet method in the field of diagnosis of mechanical devices is investigated. Two techniques are developed for recognizing the fault characteristics. One is based on the detecting of singularities of transient signals by conlinuous wavelet transform. The other maps a fault characteristic to a combination of leaves on a wavelet packet tree for fault locating. Some experimental results are presented.
