Abstract: A method to make the cone-generated hourglass worm gearing with the property of mismatched contact has been proposed. The contact state and kinematic precision of the mismatched worm gearing have been investigated by the method of tooth contact analysis. The worm gearing has been developed and the contact pattern of the worm gearing has been checked. Both the theoretical and experimental results show that the sensibility of the worm gearing to the manufacturing errors can be obviously reduced by the proposed method.
