Abstract: Monitoring of abnormalities in cutting tool and cutting process is one o the crucial and difficult techniques in FMS, CIMS and other sutomatical manufacturing equipments. In this paper, the effects of abnormalities in drilling process on feeding force and motor power are investigated systematically. Monitoring index re defined. A now method for comprehensively monitoring of drill and drilling process is proposed by using amplitudes, derivatives, static average values and dynamical mean square values of feeding force and motor power. And then, a new monitoring system is developed.
