Abstract: A balancing method is introduced in this paper, by which the bearing forces of a link mechanism can be reduced by adding a spring to its links. As an example, the position and parameters of the spring are discussed to balance the bearing forces of a 6-bar long-dwell mechanism. In addition, the balancing method is verified by means of an experimental research on the balancing of bearing forces in the 6-bar long-dwell mechanism.
