Abstract: In this paper, an method to plot the characteristic atlas of the d-bar linkages using computer and plotter is presented on the base of the space model developed by the authors. Our research is specially concerned with how the spatial 3-dimensional configuration is transformed to the planar one and how a point in the space model is shifted to the case of its two-dimensional parameters. In this paper, the formulas of transformation are also examined. As examples, several type of characteristic diagrams are plotted to illustrate the results gained which are quite useful to the designations of the 4-bar mechanisms.
