Abstract: The basic principle, mechanical structure and micro-computer control system of four-cup automatic ball-lapping machine are introduced. Instead of traditional manual operations, this new machine provides extra-efficient, high-precision and cost effective features in fabrication of large-scale precision balls. For a whole ball, the fabricating accuracy (roundness) has been obtained better than that in ultra-high precision lathes.
