Abstract: By testing the thermoplastic deformation of high-chromium cast iron in the temperature range of austenitization. We find that high-chromium cast iron has a great capacity of plastic working. The gross eutectic carbide of high-chromium cast iron is smashed after the thermoplastic deformation and the smashed eutectic carbide distributes uniformly in the matrix structure. The cast defects are also eliminated or decreased. Therefore the mechanical properties of high-chromium cast iron after forging are largely improved, especially its impact toughness. In this paper, it is also studied that the forging high-chromium cast iron has optimal synthesis mechanical properties through isothermal quenching heat treatment.
