THE INFLUENCE OF DEFORMATION OF SHAFT ON THE HYDRAULIC LUBRICATION IN THE SLIDE BEARING

Abstract: In slide journal bearing the axes of the shaft and bearing are actually not parallel to each other due to the deformation of the shaft. It will influence the loading capacity of the bearing and cause an additional couple at the bearing. In this paper the problem is studied for short bearings by an approximate nalytical method.Starting from. The dimensionless approximate equation of hydrodynnmic lubrication for short journal bearing as supposed by Ocvirk[2,3](2)and using relations (5),(7),we have equation (8),Supposing that the pressure of the lubricant is the linear function of the slope of the shaft at the bearing (9) and substituting it in (8)we obtain linear equations (11) and (14) which can be easily solved.Calculating the resultants of pressure and equating them with the actual loading conditions of the shafts we have a group of equations which is solved simultaneously bygraphical method and a set of curves (fig.4-10) is plotted for pratical use.Finally the approximate solutions are compared with the experimental results [7], It is shown that the approximate, results can be used when tire slope of tire shaft is not very large.
