Abstract: Emergence phenomenon is prevalent throughout the various stages of product innovation design. Rational analysis and application of the inherent mechanisms underlying the emergence phenomenon generated by various systems during the design process are crucial means to promote the continuous intellectualization and harmonization of product innovation design. On the foundation of elucidating the concept of emergence mechanisms, the focus is directed towards the process of product innovation design. This involves a comprehensive examination of the four stages: requirement identification, conceptual design, scheme iteration, and design decision-making. The analysis highlights the current research status concerning emergence mechanisms at each of these stages. And the key technologies for the research of emergence mechanism for product innovation design are summarized. In view of the issues present in the research on emergence mechanisms for product innovation design, such as insufficient prediction accuracy of innovation demands under the conditions of intrinsic correlations among multi-attribute factors, poor quality of conceptual design under the conditions of high-order collaboration among multi-dimensional product elements, vague directions of scheme iteration under the conditions of coupled effects between multi-source heterogeneous knowledge, and low efficiency of design decision-making under the conditions of complex interactions of multi-task cognitive information, a perspective on the future trends in the study of emergence mechanisms for product innovation design is provided.

Key words: product innovation design, emergence mechanisms, requirement identification, conceptual design, scheme iteration, design decision-making
