Abstract: Accurate measurement of cutting temperatures is recognized as the basis for elucidating cutting mechanisms and verifying temperature theories, which is utilized to guide the optimization of cutting parameters and processes, thereby improving the issues such as high cutting temperatures, tool wear, and surface quality. The thermoelectric sensors based on the thermoelectric effect and resistive thermal effects, etc. Which methods are recognized as useful for various temperature measurement requirements and intelligent cutting tools. Therefore, the current cutting temperature measurement methods based on thermoelectric sensors and their application in intelligent cutting tools are reviewed. Their basic principles, advantages and disadvantages, and applicable ranges are explained, and the future development trends of cutting temperature measurement methods are predicted. The suitable temperature measurement methods could be obtained by the review for the scientific researchers or industry workers.
