Abstract: Because the sound pressures are measured at a discrete and a finite number of points on the holographic cylinder, there are windowing effects, wraparound error and aliasing in the cylindrical near-field acoustical holography based on spatial Fourier transform(FT). In order to overcome windowing effects and wraparound error, statistically optimal cylindrical near- field acoustical holography (SOCNAH) is proposed, in which the reconstructed acoustical field is obtained by a linear combi-nation of the measured sound pressure data on the holographic cylinder, it can reconstruct the sound field without the use of spatial FT, so it have not the two errors. The results of numerical simulations indicate that the new method proposed is better than the one based on spatial FT.
