Abstract: The heat transfer, phase transformation and quenching strain models for simulating quenching heat treatment process are introduced, the effect of latent heat on temperature, as well as the effect of thermal strain et al. on quenching strain are all considered in this model. Then the oil quenching process of eccentric cylinder made of GCr15 is simulated on the basis of these models by using finite element method (FEM). The results show that the martensite transformation start times at different parts of the cylinder are quite different, but they all get the similar phase proportion: 89% martensite and 11% residual austenite. Quenching process makes the height, inner and outer diameters of the cylinder, finally both circles change into two ellipses with their long axes along with the line through the two circle centers. The deformation tendency obtained by simulation calculation agrees well with the test result, but the deformation amount is smaller than the measured one.
