Abstract: A new method for the synthesis of path generating planar four-bar linkages is presented. The numerical atlas of coupler curves is set up in a personal computer by describing the curve with a set of characteristic numbers. Treated with fuzzy mathematics, the curve nimitor to the desired path and the dimensions of the four-bar can be found conveniently.
