Abstract: The practice of warship steam turbine design shows that the solution obtained by single objective function only does not satisfy the complexity of the problem. This paper intends to discuss the necessity of using the multiobjective decision-making (MODM) method in the design optimization of warship steam turbine stages and/or stage groups. In this paper, two computer moudles capable of optimizing the more singnificant design variables of a turbine stage and/or a group of sages are described. The selection of the decision-making variables and objective functions, the assumptions made for the constraints within which the solution is searched and the optimization procedure are discussed. Losses are predicted by three different methods. The computer programs were conducted successfully on microcomputer DISCOVERY-1600.This paper provides some analytical results of MODM for a turbine stage and a stage-group, analyses the influence of the number of stages on the efficiency of steam turbines. The results of calculation show the method is effective.
