SYSTEM DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE OF A RUNNING NON-CONTACTING SPIRAL GROOVE GAS SEALS FOR BOOSTERS PULLED COKE OVEN GAS

Abstract: A development of boosters or exhausters using dry running non-contacting to control leakage of coke oven gas in the manufacture steel is advanced. A commercial spiral groove dry gas seals for boosters is designed, including optimization of spiral grooves pattern, analysis of liftoff-speed at no pres-sure and instability critical frequency for primary ring angular whirl, make of functional construction for the seals body, and selection of support system for the gas seals. Performance of the dry gas seals is inspected according to program of API 617 and standard of Vlndaf industries Ltd., and is approved satisfactorily through industry operating.
