Abstract: The realization of metal transfer controlling in MIG/MGA welding relies on the acquiring of high quality droplet signal with excellent adaptivity to transfer mode. By lots of experiments, arc spectrum characteristics of MIG/MAG welding in various transfer modes, such a spectrum distributions, signal waves in time domain and distributions in frequency domain have been obtained. The analysis of experimental data shows that, although the transfer mode varied, the are spectrum signals have appeared satisfactory adaptivity in identifying droplet transfer procedure and transfer rate. The operating spectral lines appear constantly and can easily picked out. Meanwhile, the potential applications are also proposed.
