Abstract: In practice, the stress concentration phenomenon in composite plate with holes is very severe. It will lead to various damages. In order to increase the structure strength of composite plate, an extra layer can be laid around the hole to improve the loading capacity. Based on three-dimensional progressive damage theory, with the secondary development language of ANSYS software, a model of open-hole composite material plate containing strengthening structures is developed to calculate the failure process under tensile load. The correctness of this model is verified through its comparison with existing references. Meanwhile, the failure mode of every layer and the influence of different strengthening layer thickness on failure process of each layer are analyzed, and the initial failure load, final failure load and whole failure process of laminated plate are obtained. This provides a certain reference for the research on strengthening structure of composite plate with holes.
