Integrated Optimal Design of the PZT Position, Size and Control of Smart Cantilever Beam

Abstract: The integrated optimal design of PZT(piezoelectric ceramics) position, size and active vibration control of the smart cantilever beam is studied. Based on the analysis of the interaction between PZT film and beam, the piezoelectric sensor, actuator equation and state equation of the smart cantilever beam are established with regard to many pairs of PZT sensors/actuators. Then, the integrated optimal model, in which the reserved energy index is taken as objective function, is established, and the expression of its first order sensitivity is derived. Finally, the impulse response of optimal results obtained by method of moving asymptotes is simulated by using Matlab-Simulink. It shows that proposed optimal model and method are effective to PZT positions, size and active vibration control of the smart cantilever beam.
