Abstract: By numerical simulation and experimental research, the feasibility of the numerical simulation by the FLUENT software is proved, and the optimal installation location of the vortex flowmeter probe in the two cases of single-phase flow and the gas-liquid two-phase flow with low liquid fraction is got, for the single-phase flow, the optimal installation location of the probe is the 0.4D behind the bluff body, and for the gas-liquid two-phase flow, the optimal installation location of the probe is 1D behind the bluff body, and the reason why 1D behind the bluff body is the optimal location is got through analyzing the flow distribution with the post processing function of the FLUENT software: in 1D behind the bluff body, the vortex becomes maturity, the signal strength is the strongest and the information of the flow field is the most abundant and stable. By comparing the flow field of the single-phase and the gas-liquid two-phase flow with 0.04% liquid fraction, the reason why these two conditions have different installation locations is got..
