SEMI-ACTIVE SUSPENSION DESIGNED BY MULTI CRITERIAL OPTIMIZATION METHOD

Abstract: For overcoming the drawback of the conflict between the ride comfortable and dynamic tire force in semi-active vehicle suspension design, the multi-criterions optimization method is presented. The integral of sprung mass’s acceleration and max dynamic tire force are selected as optimal design criterions. Besides the damper coefficient, the semi-active damper control logic and sampling time are also used as a set of optimal Parameters. Using the program of the analysis design of control systems (ANDECS) developed by German Aerospace Research Establishment(DLR), two kinds of semi-active damper (on-off and continuous) are investigated. The quarter-car model excited by a haversine-type bump is used as an example, the results of passive, semi-active (on-off and continuous) and active damper are compared with each other and effective of the design algorithm are proven.
