Calculation of the Material Utilization Ratio for Automobile Panel Based on Stamping Effect

Abstract: In view of the thickness change caused by stamping effect of the automobile panel, a new method is put forth to calculate the material utilization ratio. The thickness of the part in different regions after stamping is acquired through stamping simulation and combined with the element number of the simulation model, the weight of the part’s grid model is worked out , which is very close to the actual weight of the part after correction by contrast of the total element’s area and the design model’s. Meanwhile, combined with one step and iterative simulation calculation, the minimum blank outline is worked out by limiting of drawing part’s outline according to outside boundary of drawbead and the accurate material utilization ratio which is close to actual value can be acquired after calculating the ratio value of the corrected grid model’s weigh and the minimum blank’s.
