Abstract: The characteristic of LY12 alloy powders made by centrifugal atomization were studied. The results show that as the initial atomizing temperature elevated, the average size of the powders decreased firstly, then increased, and the percentage of the fine powders changed in the others direction. When the diameters of the atomizing disc decreased in certain range, the average size of the powders and the percentage of the fine powders increased .The powders were tear-drop of spherical shaped.
