THEORETICAL FORMULAE FOR THE MESHING ANALYSIS OF POINT-CONTACT TOOTH SURFACES OF HYPOID GEARS

Abstract: A set of theoretical formulae for the meshing analysis of point-contact tooth surfaces is presented. The formulae without machine settings are only related to the parameters within second order of a pair of tooth surfaces and are suitable for any contact point on the tooth surfaces. With these formulae, the meshing analysis of a pair of tooth surfaces can be done very easily at the same time as the parameters of the tooth surfaces are designed. Moreover, through these formulae a clear explanation of the mismatch mechanism for point-contact tooth surfaces is given in theory, which is very important for the design of point-contact tooth surfaces.
