Abstract: The concept of the agent is applied to the active structural acoustic control for intelligent noise reduction technology. The coupled sound field characteristics inside an enclosure with two elastic plates are investigated. Due to the coupling between the two elastic plates is very weak, the coupling effect is neglected. In view of this situation, the point force actuator is applied on each of the two elastic plates. And the controller agents are constructed by integrating the intelligent control algorithm and the actuators. The two controller agents are coupled into an integral multi-agent-based active structural acoustic control system by the coordination object which includes the competitive and subordinate coordination mechanisms. The distributed sequence control is adopted for the control system. Although the single channel adaptive feedback control algorithm used by individual agent is only suitable for narrow-band noise control, multi-agent joint control can suppress the broader frequency band noise. At the same time, the control system can tolerate failures in one or several of the agents by redundant agents. Hence, it has the strong robustness. In addition, the system has the scalability, parallel computing and simpler implementation of the distributed control.
