Design and Simulation Supportive Platform for Forging Manipulator System

Abstract: The forging manipulator is a system with hydro-electromechanical integration. Computer design and simulation technology play a core role in the development of such complex product. The research is focused on design and simulation platform for forging manipulator system. The functional structures of collaborative design subsystem and collaborative simulation subsystem are elaborated. During the collaborative designing, in order to tackle the complex coupling problem, the design team is organized by partition and different levels and meanwhile the relationship in design is defined and managed according to classification. During the collaborative simulation, due to the heterogeneous simulators incompatible with high level architecture (HLA) standard, the adaptor mechanism based on HLA agent model is proposed to improve the reusability of models. To resolve the time-consuming problem of forging process simulation, the intelligent model of case-based reasoning is proposed to improve the efficiency. A simulation experiment for forging process is conducted to demonstrate the high fidelity of collaborative simulation and the validity of our simulation platform. The support platform is helpful to constructing the virtual prototype of forging manipulator and is supportive for fast design, cost reduction and characteristic analysis.
