Abstract: Design reuse is the application of past designs and design knowledge to current design activities. The characteris-tics of product design and the market competitive environments determine the significance of design reuse. The design reuse strategies for mechanical products are studied. The concepts of design reuse levels and design reuse dimensions for mechanical products are presented. The enabling techniques for design reuse are concluded， I.e.，CAD technology， AI technology and Web technology. The frameworks and strategies for mechanical product design reuse based on these enabling tech-nologies are proposed. All these possess the theoretical guidance for further research and application of mechanical product design reuse.
