Abstract: Unbalanced vibration generated by protruding components in rotating machinery rotors or main shafts is recognized as a critical factor accelerating component wear and shortening service life, which poses a significant constraint on the high-quality development of China's manufacturing sector. Online automatic balancing systems are considered an effective solution for real-time monitoring and suppression of vibration imbalances during rotor operation. In this study, an electromagnetic balancing actuator compatible with through-shaft installation is designed. The fundamental structure and operational principles are explained through an automatic balancing system modeled on aero-engine fan rotor configurations. Key parameters including self-locking torque and driving torque are systematically analyzed using electromagnetic simulation software, with the actuator configuration being finalized based on simulation outcomes. Experimental validation is conducted to verify operational accuracy and feasibility. The experimental results demonstrate that measured self-locking torque and driving torque values show consistent alignment with simulation data. Stable stepping performance is maintained across multiple operational conditions, with over 90% rotor amplitude reduction being achieved within 36 seconds. These findings are confirmed to provide essential technical support for advancing the engineering implementation of automatic balancing technology in rotating machinery systems.
